Shame on Bell
The campaign to highlight more than 6000 jobs eliminated by Bell Canada over the last eight months launched yesterday with a rally in Ottawa. The campaign, “Shame on Bell”, brought attention to the slashing of jobs across Canada while Bell increased payouts to shareholders.
TEAM/IFPTE Local 161 has seen a 40% reduction in members at BELL/MTS since Bell acquired MTS in 2017. At Tuesday’s rally protesters had planned to attend the House of Commons’ Heritage Committee meeting but for a second time Bell executives refused to show.
The rally, spearheaded by Unifor, was attended by Unifor Local 2000A President, Ian Morton, and IFPTE Int’l Representative, Bill Fitzpatrick.
