Society Hydro One Local Annual Council

Elected members of the Society of United Professionals/IFPTE Local 160’s Hydro One Local held their annual council on Monday this week. With over 80 people in attendance virtually, “Fighting for Fairness” was the conference theme. Members were greeted by the Society’s Principal Officers as well as IFPTE President, Matt Biggs. 

Main discussion topics included overcoming a tough round of collective agreement negotiations, review of the CLC Convention, IFPTE Convention, and the upcoming Canadian federal election. In the afternoon, delegates evaluated the importance of membership engagement during contract negotiations, turning their mind to future actions. Afterwards, special guest speakers Doly Begum, Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament and Jennifer Huang, Toronto & York Region Labour Council, spoke to the council about the organizing work they are working on and how Society members can be involved.
