SPEEA Rallies to Extend UI Benefits

More than a dozen SPEEA members and staff joined more than 300 labor union activists for a rally on the steps of the Washington state Capitol on Feb. 28. The rally was to encourage state Senators to support House Bill 1893, which would extend limited unemployment insurance benefits to striking workers. SPEEA has been a strong advocate for passage of the legislation, which would help level the playing field for low-income workers trying to exercise their collective bargaining rights.
