UNION STRONG: NPEU Committed to Continuing to Build Their Ranks in 2024
The Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU/IFPTE Local 70) Interim-President, Amy Chin-Lai, provided a snapshot to their members this week about the union’s plans for 2024, including continuing to aggressively organize the unorganized.
In the letter to NPEU’s membership, the board reported that the Local “ended the year with 1,200 members represented under contracts! This 53% increase in membership in the last year reflects the values of our union – that every worker deserves a sustainable union with a high standard of representation.” As for 2024, President Chin-Lai stressed that “we will focus on strengthening our internal organizing…”, and, “The power of the union comes from our members, so our members must be supported and have the infrastructure and leaders to help them thrive…”.
