“We did our part as a Union” – IFPTE Reflects on Labor 2024 Program Participation
IFPTE Local members and international officers and staff reflected on the Union’s participation in the AFL-CIO Labor 2024 program in several of the swing states that decided the election.
Assistant to the Executive Officers, Brian Kildee, who helped lead the program in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, commented: “We obviously did not achieve the results we were hoping for, but we can all be proud that we did our part as a Union in supporting labor’s endorsed candidates and building solidarity on the ground.”
IFPTE Legislative and Political Director, Faraz Khan, also weighed-in: “IFPTE’s strong engagement in the Labor 2024 program is something that we, as a Union, need to continue moving forward.”
International Representative, David LaFemina, said “this is one of many Labor programs I participated in and I can say that it was the most efficient and effective I have seen to date. While some of our candidates ultimately lost it was not due to a lack of a robust and strong labor program.”
IFPTE’s executive officers, President Matt Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson, rounded out the comments: “IFPTE members across North America can be proud that our Union was so actively involved in the AFL-CIO program. We endorsed and worked on behalf of a slate of bipartisan candidates up and down the ballot that were pro-worker and pro-union. We thank all of those staff, members, and Locals that participated as well.”
IFPTE staffers Bill Fitzpatrick, Anna Liu, and Karen Bellamy Lewis also participated in the program.
