Commissioner O’Malley Holds SSA Labor Roundtable Meeting
Newly confirmed Social Security Administration (SSA) Commissioner, Martin O’Malley, held a virtual Labor Roundtable Meeting this week with the agency’s unions, including the Association of Administrative Law Judges (AALJ/IFPTE Judicial Council 1).
The meeting, which also included AFGE and NTEU, came less than thirty days after Commissioner O’Malley achieved bipartisan confirmation from the United States Senate. AALJ president, Judge Som Ramrup, commented on the meeting: “The AALJ commends Commissioner O’Malley for making it a priority to meet with us, AFGE, and NTEU as a group as he starts his tenure leading SSA. There was a lot of discussion during the meeting, including his recognition that to create change for the better at SSA it must be done in coordination and partnership with the workers and their elected representatives. The AALJ welcomes his approach and looks forward to working with him and his team.”
