IFPTE Endorses George Whitesides for Congress in California's 27th District
Union calls Whitesides“a strong supporter of working families”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), representing 90,000 workers across North America, declared their support for George Whitesides to represent California’s 27th Congressional District.
IFPTE President Matt Biggs:
“As a union representing workers in both the government and private sectors, including upwards of twenty thousand workers in California, IFPTE is proud to endorse George Whitesides for Congress. It is not lost on IFPTE that during the Obama Administration when George Whitesides served as NASA’s chief of staff, he was quick to connect with former IFPTE Western Federal Area Vice President, Brother Lee Stone and myself to work with us toward establishing a strong labor-management partnership at the space agency, one that was very productive and lasted throughout President Obama’s tenure. He led by example, something that IFPTE has not forgotten, and something that we know he will bring with him to the halls of Congress. IFPTE is proud to lend George Whitesides our full support.”
IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson:
“There is no doubt that George Whitesides will be a strong supporter of working families in the United States Congress. He brings with him an aerospace background that is familiar to the thousands of workers IFPTE represents. He understands our membership and is a strong supporter of all workers’ right to collectively bargain. IFPTE is happy to support him.”
IFPTE Legislative/Political Director Faraz Khan:
“Given George’s long and productive working relationship with IFPTE over many years, coupled with his support of both the Protecting the Right to Organize Act and the Public Sector Freedom to Negotiate Act, endorsing him for this critical seat in Congress was an easy decision. IFPTE will do all we can to help him win in 2024.”
George Whitesides launched his campaign last week. Learn more about him here.
