IFPTE Joins Local 21 in Mourning the Loss of Brother Dean Coate

The IFPTE family across North America joins Local 21 members in mourning the passing of Brother Dean Coate, a longtime and dedicated member and leader of Local 21.  Local 21 President, Gus Vallejo, offered the following comments:  “Brother Dean was not only a dedicated union member here for decades, he was a part of our leadership for many years.  He served as President of Local 21 for nearly nine years and was also a member of the IFPTE International Executive Council for several years.  He was part of the strong leadership team that helped to build the foundation that allows Local 21 to fight so effectively today for our members and for workers everywhere.  He will be truly missed, but certainly not forgotten.”

IFPTE President, Matt Biggs, and Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson, also offered the following joint comment: “Brother Dean Coate was an instrumental part of the IFPTE governing leadership team for many years.  He served as Western Area Vice President on the IFPTE Executive Council for six years and was honored by IFPTE’s delegates throughout North America at IFPTE’s 2018 Convention in Atlantic City.  Dean served in a leadership capacity at Local 21 for over fifteen years and his imprint on the work the Local does today is unmistakable.  IFPTE sends our condolences to his immediate and union family.”
