IFPTE President Biggs Talks About Building Labor’s Power to Federal News Network
On Tuesday, IFPTE President Matt Biggs joined the Federal News Network to discuss the impact of President Biden’s Executive Order on worker organizing and empowerment, particularly with respect to federal workers.
The discussion came following the report submitted to the President by White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment, co-chaired by Vice President Kamala Harris and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, which recommends federal agencies notify federal workers and job applicants if their jobs fall in a collective bargaining unit, how to get in contact with their unions, and allow unions to participate the new hire orientation sessions, among other things.
In the interview Biggs applauded President Biden and noted that, “President Biden, to his credit, understands that a strong middle class is directly linked to a strong union membership.” Hear the complete interview here.
