SOLIDARITY ALERT: Secretary-Treasurer Henson Joins Striking CWA-Represented Workers on the Picket Line

Secretary-Treasurer Henson joined AT&T workers on the picket line this week in Chattanooga, TN.  The workers, represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA), work in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and have been on strike for nearly three weeks.

Henson commented on the strike, saying that, “It is important for our community here in Chattanooga, and other communities across the many states where these workers are on strike, to stand in strong Solidarity with them.  As a Chattanooga resident, and a proud, longtime Union leader, I made it a priority to walk the picket line with these workers and let them know that IFPTE members all across North America support them, and will continue to do so until the employer agrees to a contract that is respectful of their contributions to the company.”

On Monday, CWA announced that the union was withdrawing from federal mediation because AT&T has continued to stall negotiations and delay progress.  Learn more about the strike and how to support the striking workers here
