SOLIDARITY at the Statehouse! SPEEA Sends Contingent to Topeka for Union Advocacy
SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001 sent a strong contingent of members to the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka this week to participate in the Kansas State AFL-CIO's legislative advocacy conference.
Among the issues advocated for were an increase in the prevailing wage and support for Senate Bill (SB) 38 to increase workers’ compensation. SPEEA Council Chair/IFPTE SPEEA Area Vice President, Matthew Joyce, commented on the legislative efforts: “It is essential that SPEEA do our part in advocating for our members and Labor’s agenda here in Topeka, and the strong delegation of SPEEA Sisters and Brothers did just that! We are also proud to have hosted a hospitality event for all of the unions that sent members to this lobbying event, which gave us an opportunity to share stories and collaborate as union members on the next steps.”
Great job SPEEA!
